I had first watched this film a few years ago and I keep on returning to it. It is by far the most visually appealing film I have ever seen. Every shot is composed and thought through from the lighting to the set design. The mise en scene is absolute perfection in this film.
Barton Fink is about a Hollywood screen writer who comes across a bit of writers block while staying at the hotel Earl in Los Angeles. He befriends his neighbour a friendly southern gentleman who appears to be sincere and kind. Barton soon realizes that his neighbour is in fact a serial killer after the death of his loved one and the horror begins.
The plot line and decomposition of the film are fantastic. I find that with films now a days they are very predictable however I must say i didnt find this with Barton Fink at all. The twists within the plot and changes of setting really keep you on the edge of your seat.
This film is one of my favourites and I recommend everyone to watch it. It is a horror film so I do warn you that some of the scenes are graphic but it is a classic none the less.
